Bateleras de Pasajes

Abstract

This works analizes the job of the boatwomen developped at the bay of Pasajes in Guipúzcoa from the XVII to the XX century, analizing unpublished documents and published literary texts. The study has shown the economic importance that these boatwomen had since they almost monopolized the transport of persons (preachers, army oficers, sailors, royal family's members, visitors, ...) and merchandise through both sides of the river and to the ships at the bay
