El coste de la vida en Erandio : 1892-1924

Abstract

This article tries to analyze the cost of living in Erandio during the beginning and development of industrialization in this town: 1892-1924. Evolution of salaries in several profesional sectors are analyzed and related to the prices of basic comsuption goods. As a practical consequence, a budget of a working family is made in terms of the most basic needs. The conclusion is the low purchasing power of the working family in Erandio, which causes the searching of additional income: women and child's work, whose salaries are compared with those of men. An interesting data appendix is included with the prices of main comsuption goods in Erandio during this period
