Abstract

A cancer diagnosis means an unexpected and destabilising experience for any family, independently of its capacity of adjustment and integrity in crisis situations. The personal and material resources the family has, together with a clear and simple information, adapted to the cognitive and emotional age and maturity of each member of the family unit, will facilitate a better adjustment to this situation.
