At present, together with ethylic alcohol and tobacco, cannabinoids are the widely used drugs in our midst. Over the last decade, the discovery of a endogenous cannabinoid system has opened a wide field that will help us understand how the derivatives from cannabis and even other drugs act in our organism. This review makes a general description of cannabinoids, emphasising their action mechanisms and pharmacological effects.
