Observaciones a la rama musical del P. Donostia

Abstract

The first scientific endeavours of research carried out by ethnomusicologists from the Basque Country coincide with the incipient European tendencies of the beginning of the century, in a key period in Basque history in which decisive elements such as nationalism and the crisis of the tonal system converge. Due to the fact that P. Donostia, as a more relevant figure, tackles, in an almost solitary manner and with no continuity, the study of this liminal moment between traditional discourse and the new sonorous forms, his methodological suppositions have been inevitably anchored to a period in time. Thanks to later anthropological approached which have thrown new light on this area, we can now consider the revision of these enthnographic texts
