Catálogo de los fondos musicales antiguos de Laguardia (Alava)

Abstract

There are 54 manuscripts classified, belonging to the Music Chapel created, by means of a foundation, by Gregorio Garcetas in 1665 in Laguardia (Alava). The Chapel is dissolved in 1841. The greater part of the woorks belong to the XVIIIth and beginning of XIXth Century. Of all the manuscripts mentioned, 20 of them remain complete. As a whole, there are 35 the manuscripts of known autor. The majority of them, belong to Laguardia´s Chapel Master: Atilano San Juan ( -1730) (7 works), Blas de Alecha (1 work), Tomás Vélez Calderón ( -1791) (2 works), Rafael Ustáriz (h. 1752-1802) (8 works), and Pablo Sáenz Melendo (8 works). Works by Calée (1), José de Caseda (1), Lanuza (1), José Mir y Llusa (1), Negueruela (1), José Polo (1), Secanilla (1) Y Torres (1), are related as well. Some short notes about the constitution and end of the Musical Chapel, besides biographyc notes of Laguardia´s Chapel Masters, are a useful introduction to the catalogue
