Abstract

This article studies "Maskarada" performances. These are traditional folk celebrations which take place in Zuberoa during Carnival time. Maskaradak are a complex activity where young people from a village visit their peers in other villages and then dance and tell stories by following in a strongly structured ritualistic pattern.
