Abstract

The documentation on the twenty first years of the 16th Century that is published in this fourth and last volume of those dedicated to the Municipal Archives of Salvatierra-Agurain depicts a very active town, dedicated to agriculture and commerce with neighbouring Navarre. In it a social group stands out that encounters considerable opposition in the villages of its jurisdiction in matters such as the designation of the brotherhood mayor, the celebration of the weekly market or the scope of communal yields and that has a strong confrontation with the House of Ayala, from whose dominion it will finally be able to extricate itself in 1521.
