Colección Documental de la Cuadrilla alavesa de Zuia. Archivo Municipal de Aramaio

Abstract

Only the funds of the Municipal Archives of Aramaio are collected in this first volume, the purpose of which is to transcribe all the medieval documentation preserved in the archives of the "Cuadrilla" of Zuia, in Alava -until 1520. These documents have been collected for publication in the Eusko Ikaskuntza/Basque Studies Society collection of Medieval Documentation Sources of the Basque Country. A second volume will collect the documentation in the archives of the municipalities of Arrázua-Ubarrundi, Cigoitia, Legutiano, Urcabustaiz and Zuia. This work consists of two parts: an introduction and document transcription. The first part covers the geographical framework of the "Cuadrilla" of Zia, together with its 6 municipalities and 64 administrative councils. Reference is made to the transcribed documents, special attention being paid to the letter of executorship of 1499. The edition and transcription procedures employed and the quoted bibliography are also included. In the second part of the work, the one that covers of documentary transcription chronologically presents 9 documents, the extreme dates of which are 1450-1513.
