The aim of the present work is to explore computationally the behaviour of several model ketenes and 1-azadienes in order to develop a general model which could eventually explain the variables governing the formation of [2+2] an [4+2] cycloadducts. Since the electrocyclic step determines the outcome of the reaction, we well focus on the transition states compatible with the electrocyclic process. Solvent effect has been taken into account using the Onsager model.
