El "Centro de Estudios Científicos" de San Sebastián

Abstract

San Sebastian´s Centre for Scientific Studies (Centro de Estudios Científicos) was founded in 1932, at a time of belief that the creation of the Basque University would soon become a reality. This Centre was sponsored by Eusko Ikaskuntza and subsidised by the Gipuzkoa Country Council, the San Sebastian Town Council and the Caja de Ahorros Provincial from its outset. This text makes as thorough a study as possible of the institution throughout its existence. If therefore examines the statutes, manners of functioning, objectives and projects, lines of action, publications, associates, teaching staff, courses, conferences, etc., that is, the scientific, administrative and organisational activities developed by the institution during its period of activity.
