Abstract

Response to the critism made by Schuchardt on an article of Menéndez Pidal. Schuchardt thinks that the diphthongs "ié" and "ué" in the names of Iberian origin indicate a Latin form. This form would be in between the Iberian language and the romance language, instead of being just Iberian. Menéndez Pidal says that he bases his deduction on numerous examples
