Official URL: http://www.euskomedia.org/analitica/10527 AbstractBy giving the name of "Abbadia" to the neo-gothic castle that Viollet Le Duc had built in the plains of Aragorri, near Hendaye, Antoine Thomson d'Abbadie resuscitates, in his own way, the Abadie dArrast Manor in Soule where his father had come from. He makes use of his forebears from Soule, who, as he writes in his autobiographical notes, bore the title of "abbé laï" o "laïc dAbbadie d'Arrast". They had borne this title up to his grandfather who had emigrated under the Revolution. The purpose of this work is to analyse this title from a linguistic and historical point of view.
