Abstract

In this work we nave gathered information about the serious regression of two languages of Europe, Basque and Irish, in the times of the Basque scientist Antoine d'Abbadie (1810-1897). We offer a brief summary, with a more extense analysis about the collapse of the Basque language in Navarre. Finally, we add some facts about the situation of the official language in Eire today.
