Abstract

The pressure that society exerts on its members has brought about anexcessive concern over weight and physical appearance. 526 students' attitudes to weight (158 men and 368 women) were studied. They reflect a desire to be slimmer than they are even though they consider their weight is below what a healthy weight should be.
