Abstract

I examine the consequences of the global war on terror after September 11, 2001. I argue that political realism requires judging the wisdom of continuing a failed strategy based on violence. The refusal to abandon violence risks undermining the core values of minority peoples -their languages and cultures- in a climate of worldwide opposition to cultures seen linked to terrorism.
