Abstract

Departing from a determined defence of the right to self-determination, Humboldt defends negative rights and state neutrality. In this sense, he is a forerunner of contemporary neo-liberal philosophy. In order to support such an affirmation, we contrast Humboldt’s thinking with that of Nozick, who is nowadays probably the maximum exponent in our days of libertarian right-wing or neo-liberal philosophy.
