La ascensión de Bekea: un lugar para la tradición

Abstract

The Bekea quarter in Galdakao has long been celebrating the festivities of Azentzio. However, over the last three years this pilgrims’ festivity has changed completely. This transformation is, in fact, the consequence of a strategy to confront the social fracture brought about by modernity. In this case, the festivity becomes a space for the construction of relations of solidarity between individuals and for the establishment of an identity referring to the corresponding locality (which in this case is Galdakao).
