Manuel de Irujo y la Guerra Civil en Guipúzcoa en el verano de 1936

Abstract

The following pages contain an analysis of Manuel de Irujo’s activities at the beginning of the civil war. During its first months, and in his condition as deputy for Guipuzcoa, Irujo centred his activities in that territory. Among his main activities we can point out his attempts to humanise the conflict and protect the lives of prisoners in republican hands. Also, an analysis is made of the role he played in the institutions created in republican Guipúzcoa up to this designation as minister in late September 1936.
