Abstract

About the Confraternity in Plentzia we only knew, until fifteen years ago and through the historians of the nineteenth century in Biskaia, that it had some decades of splendour at the end of the 18th century and decadence in the 19th century until its extinction. Our documentary research, together with those of other authors, try to clarify the various realities of the Confraternity throughout its long history: fishing, cabotage, navigation in the high seas, confreres and ship enrollments, nautical teaching, etc.
