The article is divided into four parts, beginning with a review of the living conditions of workers in Barakaldo and Sestao, and then to examine the employers response and that of the State to the problem of insuficient cheap housing. Subsequently, an analysis is made of the constitution of a Society of Cheap Houses by that company and the subsequent implication of other companies of the region in similar initiatives.
