Abstract

Ada H. Hedges writes about the Basques in Southwest Oregon, their origins and culture. At the beginning of century the emigration of whole families began. Now they are grouped in communities of 15 to 20.000 inhabitants. Their daily lives and the way they spend their free time is the object of the author's attention. The school is the only one "office" of Americanisation.
