Abstract

An analysis of scientific journalism as from the study of professional practices allows us to appreciate the phenomena of distortion that affect the information generated by the media. Such phenomena, which have a general character in media activity, and also affect scientific specialisation. The essential function of the scientific press is thus scarcely fulfilled. The knowledge necessary to have a solid and critical vision on the citizens. reality is not provided. A tour of the values which constitute news in the production process verifies these deficiencies and strongly advocate a redefinition of the profession, of its culture and of the organisation of the media.
