Abstract

We herein present an evaluation of the present state of professional scientific publications in Spain, and propose solutions for some of the fundamental problems which this enterprise is facing. Particular emphasis is placed on the use of an effective international scientific language, on the importance of rigorous evaluation of papers to be published and on the correct use of bibliometric indicators.
