Délica (Alava), un caso singular de pintura mural en el País Vasco

Abstract

The mural paintings recently discovered in the parochial church of Santa María de Délica represents a unique and exceptional example: both for the atypicalness of the ornamental motifs as wells as for the thecnique empliyed. They are also very interesting because of their state of conservation, which, in spite of gaps and losses, allows us to have a rough idea as to how they may have originally been. They also open doors to establish hypotesis about new decorative typologies concerning the stylistic and technical characteristics, artistry and influences for mural painting in Alava and the Basque Country
