Abstract

A study is made of several indigenous languages from North America, the transitive verbs of which have a passive character as in the Basque language. By means of examples, the similarity between the inaction and transitive verbs on the one hand, and the transitive and the intransitive action verbs on the other hand is demonstrated. This proves that the passive form is the most ancient and natural form in a language
