Abstract

This communication refers to the painting of the Immaculate Conception preserved in Eguino. This painting shows the iconographic evolution of the topic of the Immaculate Conception until the 17th century and the fundamental importance of engravings from the end of the 16th century during the 17th century. The author also wanted to demonstrate the dependency of Eguino's painting with respect to an engraving by Raphael Sadeler. This dependency even annuls the stylistic personality of the painter, and the huge diffusion that the model had, citing the examples from Torremuña, the Immaculate of the Cathedral of Cordoba and a coloured engraving from the 18th century.
