Abstract

The saying "San Simon ta Juda, udaa juan ta negua eldu da" appears in a compilation published in 1555, therefore it is possibly the first printed Basque saying. A study of the text, a translation of the "Cantar de Perucho" and of another Basque saying is included in the article
