Abstract

Etymology of the word "urtzi" that appears in the small Basque vocabulary of the Codex Calistino. The author decomposes it in "urtz-ï". The suffix "-i" has now disappeared although it remains in many words and is an adjective to the substantive. On the other hand "urtz" would come from "ortz", heaven, and thus "urtzi" would mean celestial, from heaven
