Abstract

Etymology of the word "txiribika", violin, that seems to originate from the Hispanic - Arabic form "rebêb". The Basque language does not possess words that begin by "r", so there would be a primitive form "erebeb" that would turn into "erebeka" since "beka" means bleat. Thereinafter, the diminutive "txes", akin to "txo" and "txe" would be added
