The western basque festival-a: morfologia eta edukia tradizioaren asmaketan

Abstract

In 1959, a Basque festival took place in Reno, Nevada. A main goal was to attract as many Basque residents as possible, as well as inducing a dynamic participation through dancing, singing and other kinds of folk Basque aesthetics. This paper addresses, first, this festival's morphologyand, second, the social content derived from the social, political and economic process within which it acquires signification.
