Abstract

Speech delivered in Madrid during his investiture as Doctor Honoris Causa by the Complutense University, in 1987. In it, he describes the process of his ethnographic and archaeological studies in the Basque Country as of 1912. He considers that the originality of a culture does not consist in that a people may have created something totally new, but in that a people may contributed its peculiar features to something common
