Abstract

A study of the reasons why the Basque language is incorporating new words originating from other languages and of the changes in the meaning of words in the Basque language due to their meaning in Castilian Spanish. Sometimes non-Basque words are used for aesthetic reasons. Most of these new words come from oral language, but many others originate in their use by writers, and their consequent acceptation into the language
